Snap enlists Natalie Alzate to host $10,000 Spotlight Challenge during Latin Heritage Month

Like other social media comapniesSnap is cheering on its Hispanic and Latin communities during the ninth month of the year. To celebrate Latin Heritage Month, the social app has launched a Spotlight Challenge that will spread $10,000 among creators who shout out their favorite Hispanic-owned businesses.

The #HispanicOwnedBusiness Spotlight Challenge is hosted by Natalie Alzate, who is the face of the Natalie’s Outlet brand and the host of the podcast #Viral. Creators are encouraged to follow Natalie’s lead by tagging cherished local businesses and posting about them via Spotlight, Snapchat’s vertical video format.

This isn’t the first time Snap has issued a short-form Challenge as part of a heritage celebration. Black-owned businesses got their moment in the Spotlight during Black History Month. Snap has also tied its Spotlight Challenges into broader cultural moments like the holiday season and Halloween. Along the way, the app has fostered a class of short-form stars

from among the regular top finishers in its Challenges.

Snap is also taking time during Latin Heritage Month to recognize some of its top Hispanic creators, including Lele Pons, Bryant Eslava, Salice Rose, Beasteater, Devon Rodriguez, and Brent Rivera. One of those standouts will have an extra-busy September. Pons is set to compete alongside partner Brandon Armstrong on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

Pons will try to become the second influencer in as many seasons to claim the Mirrorball Trophy. Charli D’Amelio took home that prize after conquering Dancing with the Stars during its 31st American season.
