Health-conscious YouTube creators in Europe can take advantage of an accelerator program

YouTube is taking another step to make accurate health information more accessible to its viewers. In partnership with Little Dot Studios and the World Health Summit, the leading video platform has launched the YouTube Health Accelerator Program, a free ten-week program that will provide guidance to health creators in Europe.

Little Dot Studios, which is overseeing the program, is encouraging licensed doctors, nurses, and psychologists to apply. Creators can also qualify for the accelerator if they produce digital content under the supervision of a licensed health professional. Though the program overview on the Little Dot website specifically calls out U.K.-based individuals, health creators in France and Germany can also take advantage of the available support.

Participants who are selected for the accelerator will attend ten one-hour sessions that will offer advice about YouTube strategy, audience engagement, and other topics. The chosen creators will also learn about the YouTube Health features they can employ in their videos. Earlier this year, YouTube brought some products and features across the pond

to help credible medical professionals identify themselves.

“We’ve a long and established heritage in content creation and distribution on YouTube, working with various social impact partners over the years,” said Little Dot Studios Chief Business Officer Holly Graham in a statement. “We’re looking forward to shaping and delivering an impactful and productive programme with YouTube Health that will support, educate, and inspire a new generation of expert creators to better serve wider audiences and communities.”

YouTube’s effort to advise and uplift medical professionals has become more vital over the past few years. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the platform’s medical misinformation problem. In order to discourage bad actors from uploading misleading content, YouTube has highlighted personal health stories from creators and has enacted content partnerships with doctors, nurses, and health organizations. Those initiatives have been led by Dr. Garth Graham, who became YouTube’s Global Head of Healthcare in 2021.

For the health creator accelerator program, YouTube and Little Dot are collaborating with the World Health Summit. The next edition of the annual health forum will begin on October 15 in Berlin.
