Kai Cenat wants to get into movies: “My angle is acting full-time”

Kai Cenat is currently the top draw on Twitch, but if he gets his wishes, he’ll eventually move on to a different corner of the entertainment world. During an appearance on rapper Lil Yachty‘s A Safe Place podcast, Cenat revealed that he plans to eventually star in movies and shows as a full-time actor.

“My angle is acting full-time,” Cenat told Yachty and A Safe Place co-host MitchGoneMad. “The whole streaming shit is cool and I love it to death, but I want to be in movies, I want to be in shows.”

Cenat shared his agenda in response to a question from Yachty about the music business. The 21-year-old streaming star said he has no intention of joining the “Broccoli” rapper in the hip-hop business, but his move into acting may already be underway. Cenat said that he has something “in the works” that he “can’t tell too much about.” Over the summer, he is planning to put “a lot of money asie” to create “high-production value” content. “I want to film amazing short films and just upload them to YouTube,” he told Yachty and Mitch.

The conversation among Cenat, Yachty, and Mitch roamed across many topics, including Cenat’s upbringing in the Bronx (he has a similarly-named twin sister named Kaya), his independence (he never had his own room until he moved to L.A.), and his relationships with other members of creator supergroup AMP. (Duke Dennis is apparently the group’s messiest member.)

He also spoke candidly about his record-breaking Twitch sub-a-thon. “Would I do it again? Hell no,” Cenat said. “But it was worth it.”

Cenat’s status as a top-tier streaming star has led to rumors that he will sign a contract with free-spending Twitch rival Kick. During his Safe Place appearance, he offered few clues about his future affiliations, but he told the hosts that he is grateful to see the success he and his friends have had — no matter what platform it comes on. “All my friends are eating right now,” Cenat said, “and it’s beautiful.”
