LinkedIn’s CEO is talking to execs and leaders who walked ‘The Path’ to success

Ryan Roslansky has been CEO of LinkedIn since June 2020, but he went through a long journey before he reached that position. According to his own professional profile, Roslansky’s career had stops at Yahoo and GoDaddy, and he put in more than a decade of work at LinkedIn before he became the platform’s chief executive.

So that’s Roslansky’s professional story, but in his new show, he will let other business and tech leaders explain how they arrived at the top of their companies. The Path, which premiered on January 19, is a series of conversations between the LinkedIn chief and his accomplished guests.

The leader who examines his career in episode one of The Path is Dara Khosrowshahi, who was been the CEO of Uber since 2017. Khosrowshahi is known as a vocal leader who has spoken up about unionization and other issues. In The Path, he talks to Roslansky about his upbringing in Iran, his unexpected move to Uber, and the influence execs like Barry Diller and Daniel Ek have had on his life.

, the conversations in The Path are brought to life through animation. “So here’s my takeaway,” Roslansky says at the conclusion of his show’s first episode. “You could be as young as Dara was in iIan with a solid career plan, but sometimes life gets in the way — sometimes in the worst ways, or sometimes in great ways — and you’ll find yourself on a path you never expected.”

The Path is one part web series, one-part promotion for Roslansky’s newsletter. By experimenting with both video and subscription-based writing, the LinkedIn CEO is supporting his company’s initiatives. LinkedIn fine-tuned its Creator Mode in 2022, and it has also supported newsletters as it lends a voice to its professional community.

Roslansky isn’t the only LinkedIn leader to take advantage of the platform’s increased focus on audio, video, and newsletters. The founder of the professional hub, Reid Hoffman, is also the host of a podcast called The Startup of You. That program is part of the LinkedIn podcast network.
