Lilly Singh has notched another first-look deal, this time in her native Canada

Lilly Singh has another TV deal in her pocket.

The 33-year-old Ontario native, who boasts 14.7 million YouTube subscribers and 161 late-night episodes to her name, has signed a first-look deal with Blink49 and Bell Media. The two Canadian media companies will work with Singh and her team at Unicorn Island Productions to create scripted and unscripted projects.

Blink49 and Bell Media will get first-look privileges for Singh’s scripted projects. For unscripted fare, the Canadian companies will have second-look rights. Singh previously signed a first-look deal with NBCUniversal, the entity responsible for bringing her to late-night TV. Her early morning talk show, titled A Little Late, premiered in 2019 and earned a second-season pick-up a year later. Singh signed her production deal with NBCU after the conclusion of A Little Late in 2021.

The projects born out of Singh’s latest first-look deal will be executive produced by Singh and her creative partner Polly Auritt as well as Carolyn Newman and Virginia Rankin of Blink49. The goal of the partnership, according to a press release from Bell Media, will be to create and produce “compelling television content that showcases underrepresented communities.”

“I am thrilled to be collaborating with Blink49 Studios and Bell Media since they are like-minded champions of underrepresented voices,” Singh said in a statement. “With their support, I’m looking forward to bringing compelling and inclusive stories to audiences around the world.”

Singh rose to prominence on YouTube by producing scripted sketches in which she dressed up as a number of different characters. She is also working on a scripted comedy series for Netflix, which she is developing alongside Black-ish creator Kenya Barris.

Though Singh continues to make her mark on TV, she has not abandoned the medium that made all these deals possible. Though she has abandoned the “Superwoman” name she previously used for her YouTube channel, she occasionally uploads new videos. Recently, she’s begun to incorporate YouTube Shorts content as well.
