Studio71, the digital content producer and creator firm, has promoted chief business officer Adam Boorstin to a new role, effective immediately: COO.
Boorstin will continue to report directly to Studio71 CEO Reza Izad, but in an expanded capacity that will see him assume responsibility for day-to-day operations and growth strategy.
Formerly, as chief business officer, Boorstin oversaw Studio71’s acquisition of over 50 OTT apps from Unreel Entertainment, giving it a combined network of more than 200 owned-and-operated platforms. He also commissioned Adulting With Emma Chamberlain at Snapchat and The Real Bros Of Simi Valley — starring Jimmy Tatro — at Facebook Watch. Boorstin is also credited with launching Studio71’s podcast business, which comprises more than 70 shows that generate 18 million monthly streams. This year, Studio71 says it will continue to grow its portfolio of streaming apps, YouTube channels, Facebook pages, and podcasts in a bid to drive ad revenues.
“Adam has done an incredible job creating and leading our high growth business segments,” Izad said in a statement. “As Studio71 accelerates its global growth in 2020, promoting Adam to this new leadership role enables us to harness his unique ability to work alongside talent, sales, production, and distribution teams to diversify our revenue streams and unlock synergies across the entire company.”
Prior to Studio71, Boorstin spent three years as head of partnerships at BuzzFeed Motion Pictures. He joined Studio71 in 2015 as EVP of distribituion, where he led a team that forged more than 30 distribution deals to monetize content from Studio71 talent on Amazon Prime, Roku, Apple TV, and more.
Studio71 — which also recently named longtime execs Joe Hodorowicz and Joseph Marchese co-heads of its talent division — is owned by Red Arrow Studios, the content and distribution division of German media giant ProSiebenSat.1. With offices in six countries, the company reps over 1,400 YouTube channels. All told, the company says its content and creators attract over 10 billion monthly views.
