SoulPancake To Reboot Flagship ‘Kid President’ Franchise In 2019, CEO Says

SoulPancake, the digital brand devoted to inspirational content that aims to make a difference in its viewers’ lives, is rebooting one of its flagship series and most synonymous personalities: Kid President.

At the inaugural NewFronts West gathering in October in Los Angeles, SoulPancake CEO Shabnam Mogharabi confirmed the news. “We think that the world needs kids’ voices, and the hopeful, inspiring voices of kids more than ever,” she said, likely referring to the current political climate. The Kid President series is being rebooted as Kid Congress, she said — and while the forthcoming series will presumably include additional characters, it’s unclear what format it will take.

Kid President, portrayed by teen star Robby Novak and based on a character created by his brother-in-law, Brad Montague, was active on Soul Pancake’s digital channels between 2012 and 2016, and perhaps best known for his adorable pep talks and inspirational missives. At the height of his career, he also released a book called Kid President’s Guide To Being Awesome

and appeared in a TV series dubbed Declaration Of Awesomeness.

In addition to the second coming of Kid President, SoulPancake is readying a next-generation book club for launch in 2019, Mogharabi says, hosted in collaboration with Wattpad and targeting digital-native readers. “We’re gonna be creating both a video and live event series reinventing the book club for the next generation,” she said.
