Issa Rae first catapulted to renown on YouTube via her Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl web series. And now, Rae’s HBO hit Insecure has become so culturally resonant that BuzzFeed is launching an after-show solely dedicated to recapping its third season.
BuzzFeed News will premiere Hella Opinions on Aug. 13 — airing the day after Insecure’s third season arrives on Sunday. The show, which BuzzFeed describes as “unapologetically black and culturally aware,” will be hosted by reporter Sylvia Obell. Obell will sit down with other influential voices from ‘Black Twitter’, including Scottie Beam and Cory Townes in episode one. Hella Opinions, which will tackle the hot-button issues covered in each episode of Insecure, will stream live every Mon. at 9 pm ET on BuzzFeed News’ Twitter account.
To herald the arrival of Hella Opinions, Obell interviewed Rae this morning on BuzzFeed News‘ flagship talk show AM To DM. Check out that conversation, in which Rae discusses her first Emmy nomination, below:
