While countless YouTube stars have ventured into the cosmetics biz by collaborating with existing brands or launching their own lines, vlogger Remi Cruz is taking the road less traveled with the debut of her very own skincare company.
Last month, Cruz launched HoneyPop — which comprises just one product thus far: a DIY Face Mask Kit and Acne Treatment dubbed I’m On Staycation Tonight. Priced at $34.50, the kit comprises four steps — a mud mask, a de-puffing eye serum, an acne treatment, and an exfoliating jelly — and comes complete with a mixing bowl and spatula. This is the first of many skin care products from HoneyPop, says Cruz, who has been open about her struggles with acne, and has more recently evolved her DIY and beauty channel to incorporate more health and wellness content.
Check out a video of Cruz demonstrating the kit below:
According to Cruz, the line took over a year to develop, and the initial product run sold out in just 10 days — though it has subsequently been restocked. Looking ahead to VidCon, the 23-year-old budding entrepreneur has some serious promotional plans in store. Not only will HoneyPop have its own booth at the convention, but Cruz is also hosting a contest in which one lucky fan will be flown out to the event for a private meet-and-greet, a swag bag, $1,000, and two Community Track passes.
Cruz counts 3.4 million subscribers on YouTube across two channels. She is repped by Expand Entertainment, Weintraub Tobin, and UTA.
