Twitch To Promote LGBTQ+ Streamers, Launch Rainbow Emotes In Honor Of Pride Month

Leading gaming platform Twitch is going all out for Pride Month — which annually serves as a moment of celebration and commemoration for the LGBTQ+ community each June.

The company will: promote a different LGBTQ+ creator on its homepage every day during the month June (a full rundown is available on Twitch’s blog); vend rainbow flag T-shirts — of which 100% of profits will benefit the Human Rights Campaign (HRC); march in the San Francisco Pride Parade; and unveil new Pride-themed emotes and cheermotes that will be available permanently after Pride month concludes. In addition to the T-shirt sale, Twitch is also inviting creators to launch their own fundraising campaigns for HRC via Tiltify.

Twitch has also teamed up with the It Gets Better Project

to create a video in which employees share their own coming out stories (below). And the company will host a panel on June 22 in which ChipWhitehouse, DistractedElf, and KiwiFails will share their experiences on the platform as LGBTQ+ creators. The event will be streamed on the TwitchOffice channel at 7 pm ET.

“Our community is strongest and our creators make the best content when everyone on Twitch feels like they belong and can be themselves,” community campaign manager Brittany Brown said in a statement. “Since diversity and inclusivity are core principles of Twitch, we have planned an entire month of events and fundraisers.”
