Viral YouTube Dance Recital Star Johanna Colón Books Amazon Film Starring Viola Davis

Adorable Johanna Colón, who rocketed to viral fame at age 6 on the heels of a comically exuberant dance performance in 2015 that has clocked some 80 million YouTube views to date, is parlaying her moment in the sun into a professional acting career.

Colón, who sassed her way through Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” at the tender age of six, has joined the Amazon Studios feature Troupe Zero — starring Hollywood heavyweights like Viola Davis, Allison Janney, Jim Gaffigan, Mike Epps, and Mckenna Grace. While no details about the plot of the film have been released, per Deadline, Troupe Zero is being directed by Bert & Bertie (YouTube‘s Dance Camp) from a script by Lucy Alibar

(Beasts Of The Southern Wild). Fences producer Todd Black is producing the film for Amazon.

In the film, Colón — who is now nine — will play a lunch-stealing bully who never speaks, but subsequently joins a misfit Brownie troupe, where she finds a sense of belonging. This isn’t Colón’s first foray into acting. She previously appeared on TBS‘ comedy The Guest Book.
