Though YouTube is reportedly planning to launch a music product called Remix, which will combine YouTube Music with Google Play Music, we still don’t know exactly what that product will look like. Now, though we have a hint — Reddit user c2fifield, who provided the picture shared above, is one of a select group of YouTube Music users who is seeing a redesigned version of the app, one that could offer a preview of what Remix has in store.
C2fifield shared the new version of the app on Reddit’s Android forum, where it received hundreds of comments from interested users. The general consensus seems to be that the new layout makes YouTube Music resemble other popular music streaming apps.
In a statement provided to The Verge, YouTube confirmed that C2fifield’s screenshot does indeed show the YouTube Music app. “We’re always working to improve YouTube Music and ensure it’s the best possible experience for users,” the statement reads. “We’re glad users are enjoying the update to the player page.”
Though it was originally thought that YouTube Head of Music Lyor Cohen would officially unveil Remix at SXSW in March, that rumored reveal did not ultimately happen. Now, those of us who are curious about this product are looking forward to May 8, when the Google I/O conference begins in Mountain View.
