Simon’s Cat, the long-running and much-beloved animated YouTube series about a mischievous and perpetually hungry house cat, is continuing its pounce into the world of mobile gaming.
Simon’s Cat Dash is a new endless runner title created by Good Catch, a game developer and publisher division of Endemol Shine Group. In Dash, Simon’s Cat has his sights set on a date with his crush, Chloe, and wants to impress her by presenting her with some butterflies. Therefore, he must run through the garden, house, and the rest of the neighborhood in order to chase down the swarm. The game also features bonus levels where Simon’s Cat must outrun his canine nemeses, Oscar and Sir Royston.
Featuring all-new characters, the game is free to download — with in-app purchases — today on both iOS and Android devices.
Good Catch managing director Anil Mistry said that Simon’s Cat Dash marks the company’s first major product release of 2018. Adds Simon’s Cat creator Simon Tofield: “It’s been so much fun to develop Simon’s Cat Dash and have the opportunity to bring some wonderful new characters to life.” On YouTube and other digital platforms, the 10-year-old Simon’s Cat series has been watched billions of times and counts a global audience of 15 million fans in more than 100 countries.
This isn’t Simon’s Cat’s first foray into mobile gaming. A previous kid-friendly match-puzzle title called Simon’s Cat Crunch, produced by Strawdog Studios, was met with some controversy in November for showing an inappropriate ad of a temporary tattoo that looked like a bloody bite.
