YouTube Star Amanda Steele Teams Up With DoSomething.org To Promote Seat Belts As A Fashion Trend

DoSomething.org has devised a novel way to promote the idea of seat belt-related safety to young people. The non-profit organization has launched a PSA featuring YouTube star Amanda Steele in which the young fashionista encourages her fellow teens to see seat belts as a stylish accessory.

In Steele’s PSA, an unseen visitor to her home quizzes her to guess an unknown item. It’s good in all seasons, he says, and it goes well with any outfit. He ultimately reveals that he’s talking about the seat belt, and Steele then takes over to talk about DoSomething and Chevrolet‘s Ride & Seek, which is offering the chance to win a $5,000 scholarship to people who promote seat belt safety.

As a press release from DoSomething notes, seat

belt usage has increased dramatically in recent years, but teenagers still strap in less often than other age groups. “DoSomething is always challenging itself to find creative ways to approach young people about important subjects in their lives,” said Michele Fino, Chief Marketing Officer at DoSomething.org, in the release. “We’re thrilled to work with Chevrolet to create a fun and inspiring way to empower young people to change their behaviors when it comes to seat belts and safe driving practices.”

DoSomething has worked with a number of online video stars on its campaigns for social good. Recently, it hosted a mixer for Musical.ly creators, at which users of the popular mobile app learned how they could contribute to the non-profit’s campaigns.
