YouTube star Anna Akana is tackling a culturally-relevant blend of topics in her new series. She and her partner Brad Gage are the stars of Search Bar, a sketch comedy series that has arrived on the Fullscreen subscription video on-demand (SVOD) service.
In Search Bar, Akana and Gage tackle topics such as white privilege, privacy, and climate change, all of which were hot-button issues in the recent election. A press release describes Search Bar as a “woke” sketch comedy show, making use of the teen set’s favorite signifier for political awareness.
Search Bar is not the first program Akana and Gage have devised for Fullscreen. They also teamed up for a video companion to their Explain Things To Me podcast. The audio version of that series can be found on iTunes.
To watch Search Bar, you’ll need a subscription to Fullscreen, which launched last April by the digital media company of the same name. The teen focused SVOD service costs $4.99 per month.
