YouTube Millionaires: With Each Video, Jake Mitchell “Motivates People To Have Fun”

Welcome to YouTube Millionaires, where we profile channels that have recently crossed the one million subscriber mark. There are channels crossing this threshold every week, and each has a story to tell about YouTube success. Read previous installments of YouTube Millionaires here.

Now that YouTube is more than 11 years old, there are many creators who started using the service during their youth and have since reached adulthood. One of the most successful creators in that category is Jake Mitchell. Mitchell began making videos at age eight and has since grown both on YouTube and as person. Now a teenager, Mitchell — who is partnered with Studio71 — continues to share his life through vlog videos. Here’s what he had to say about his digital presence:

Tubefilter: How does it feel to have one million subscribers? What do you have to say to your fans?

Jake Mitchell: To look at my account and see that I have one million subscribers is truly amazing. I have been making videos for such a long time and I remember dreaming about having 1,000 subscribers, so to now have one million is incredible.

TF: Who are some of your biggest influences in the YouTube world?

JM: I would have to say Roman Atwood, for his vlogs that include his family. A lot of people look up to him for that.

TF: What do you think are the elements of a good vlog?

JM: The best elements are different for everyone. As much as I love cinematic shots, I believe being interactive with the viewers is most important.

TF: With so many vloggers on YouTube, what do you think makes you unique?

JM: I

think my age is a huge factor because I’m growing up with my viewers while most YouTubers are a lot older than their audience. So me being the same age makes me more relatable on a daily basis.

TF: What is your creative process like for music videos?

JM: I have always been into music and now I am getting the chance to create songs. I have a new single called ‘Echoes’ which is being released in January.

TF: How do you think your video style has evolved as you’ve grown up?

JM: I don’t think my style has changed, I just think I have improved my style in a way that motivates people to have fun.

TF: What do you think is the biggest way in which making videos as you’ve grown up has influenced your outlook on life?

JM: Making videos for somebody else to enjoy is the best feeling, and knowing that helps you become a more positive person.

TF: Where do you see YouTube fitting into your life moving forward?

JM: YouTube will always be a massive part of my life because I have been doing it from such a young age. I have been making videos since I was eigh and I am now 16 so I have been creating for nearly nine years! I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon because I just love the concept of it all too much.

TF: What’s next for your channel? Any fun plans?

JM: I am hoping on touring soon, which means I will get to meet the people that watch my videos instead of just seeing numbers which is honestly crazy and mind blowing.
