YouTube Stars Kingsley, Brodie Smith To Star In New Shows From Astronauts Wanted

A new content initiative will link Astronauts Wanted to a recently-formed network. The digital media company is behind WeGotIssues and For The Win, a pair of new unscripted shows that will both feature YouTube stars as their respective leads and will both be distributed on Verizon’s Go90 app thanks to a partnership with Verizon-owned Complex Networks.

WeGotIssues will star Kingsley, the veteran YouTuber known for his gossipy videos. Together with his “squad,” which will include comedians like Shanna Malcolm, Grant Cotter, and Steph Simbari, he will comment on and mock recent pop culture events.

In For The Win, Brodie Smith — who is known for his frisbee trick shots on YouTube — will travel the country to check out unusual activities like Underwater Hockey and Extreme Unicycling. He’ll then challenge the pros to their own games, so think of the show like a weird, sporting version of Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

While both WeGotIssues and For The Win will be available through Go90, they are part of the launch of two new brands under the Complex Networks umbrella. WeGotIssues is housed under the banner of Seriously.TV, a brand that is looking to give a comedic twist to its news coverage. For The Win, on the other hand, is associated with Rated Red, a destination aimed at millennials who identify with America’s Heartland region. Both of those entities launched earlier this year in conjunction with Verizon and Hearst’s joint purchase of Complex.

“We are excited to be part of Complex Networks’ channel launches,” said Astronauts Wanted Chief Creative Strategist Nick Shore in a press release. “It’s really fun developing for these new platforms that are into experimentation and new degrees of creative freedom.”

Release dates for WeGotIssues and For The Win have not yet been announced.
