YouTube Millionaires: GizmoSlip’s Desire To Please Fans Makes His Job “So Challenging And Fun”

Tech companies will advertise their products best and most innovative features, but one thing they’ll rarely tell you is how much stress they can endure before falling apart. For that job, we must turn to GizmoSlip, who is known for creating “crash test” videos for popular gadgets. Gizmo, who is partnered with BroadbandTV, protects his iPhones, TVs, and other items with everything from soda cans to birthday cakes to pizzas before subjecting them to extreme stress tests. Ultimately, his videos are a fun combination of entertainment and tech advice. Here are his thoughts on his digital prowess:

Tubefilter: How does it feel to have more than 2.5 million subscribers on your channel? What do you have to say to your fans?

GizmoSlip: It feels amazing, but I also feel the pressure of trying to please so many people. It’s impossible, but it’s a big part of what makes being a YouTuber so challenging and fun. I enjoy the challenge though, and I am super thankful to my fans. I can’t believe how much the channel has grown, it’s overwhelming. Thank you.

TF: Where did you get the idea to do “crash test” videos for tech products?

GS: I had a video that performed well on another channel and as a result, I decided to launch my own channel.

TF: What would you say is the most resilient piece of tech you’ve ever tested?

GS: I wouldn’t say any of them have been actually that resilient. Today’s tech isn’t designed to be durable, it’s designed to be pretty. You’ll need cases if you want to achieve durability.

TF: What is the oddest crash test suggestion you’ve ever received?

GS: Putting an iPhone in my mouth and jumping off a building.

TF: What role does branded content play on your channel?

GS: It helps support the channel, and I do my best to integrate the brand well so that it doesn’t hinder the audience’s enjoyment of the video.

TF: You often leave your verbal slip-ups and other tongue-tied moments in your videos. What made you choose to do that?

GS: I want to be as authentic as possible. I try to keep all tests as interesting as possible, and I never fake the results or redo the videos with letting the audience know what’s going on. I value authenticity, and I think my audience does too.

TF: As someone who works with Apple products a lot, what’s your opinion of the iPhone 7?

GS: I don’t think it’s much of an upgrade over the 6s, but it is a small improvement, and it’s worth upgrading to if you have an older iPhone or just have the extra money.

TF: Do you think your videos offer honest consumer advice, or are they merely meant for fun?

GS: I think they do to some extent, though it highly depends on the type of video. Some of my videos are just for fun and some actually are good durability tests. But either way, I just hope they are entertaining.

TF: What’s next for your channel? Any fun plans?

GS: Of course! But they are top secret. 😉
