Social Media Warfare: Top Viners Accused Of Sabotaging One Another’s Popular Posts

Two of Vine’s biggest stars have had a very public falling out that also illuminates new clandestine combat tactics in an age of digital stardom. Playboy Playmate and Vine star Amanda Cerny (4.7 million followers) and her former best friend, the Venezuelan Vine star Lele Pons (11.3 million followers), are in the throes of a feud that Cerny says resulted when she noticed Pons deleting popular posts from her various social accounts.

“It all started six months ago when all of my photos and videos that were doing well on my Instagram kept being deleted,” Cerny wrote in a post on gossip website The Dirty. “Same with my YouTube channel.” Cerny also notes that several of her accounts were being privated — preventing her from gaining any new followers. Then, last month at an event, Cerny says she saw Pons take her phone and delete a Snapchat photo. While Pons initially denied the accusations upon being confronted, Cerny claims she later “admitted to it all.”

In addition to the blog post, Cerny also posted a vlog on YouTube about the dissolution of her friendship with Pons, and tweeted

that police were summoned to her house to request that she take down an Instagram post alluding to the situation. “Is that where our tax dollars are going?” Cerny asks. She adds that she only came forward with her accusations because Pons had been spreading word online that Cerny had been deleting her posts, too.

Pons, who appeared in Joey Graceffa’s YouTube Red series Escape The Night and is set to co-star in the upcoming Awesomeness Films feature We Love You, has yet to publicly deny the allegations — though she has tweeted several times about the perils of online bullying. “People will only bring you down when they have nothing to bring them up,” she wrote, quoting her younger cousin.
