New App From YouTube Star Fernanfloo Gets 2.3 Million Downloads In A Week

In the past year, Hispanic YouTube star Fernanfloo has shot up our Tubefilter charts and emerged as one of the most popular creators in the online video world. Fernanfloo’s success, however, is not limited to YouTube. The El Salvadorian gamer recently launched a new version of his app, and it was a smashing success, receiving 2.3 million downloads in its first week of activity.

In the app, Fernanfloo’s fans play as a fictionalized, cartoonish version of their favorite creator. The first version of the app was an immediate hit upon its release in December 2015, and an updated edition, which arrived on July 25th, continued the winning streak. With its new features, updated gameplay mechanics, and free status (the first version of the game was launched as a paid app), the updated Fernanfloo app received 1.2 million downloads in its first 36 hours on the market and 2.3 million in its first week.

Fernanfloo is partnered with TGN, the gaming-centric brand within the BroadbandTV digital network. “Major online video creators have strong IP, some even more engaging and influential than large traditional media companies within the digital sphere. We’re working with a wide range of talent which provides a huge opportunity to further diversify revenue beyond ad sales at scale,” said BroadbandTV EVP of Professional Services Lewis Ball in a press release. “This has always been a focus for the business and the success of the recent Fernanfloo apps are additional proof points of how we’re executing on this strategy.”
