Here’s A Sneak Peek For Woody Allen’s Amazon Series, Coming September 30

Amazon’s recent presentation to the Television Critics Association (TCA) included updates about several of its original programs, including one that has been in the works for close to 19 months. That show is Crisis in Six Scenes, and it will serve as the first TV series created by director Woody Allen when it arrives on September 30th.

In Crisis, Allen will play the same sort of finicky nebbish he has perfected over his 50-plus years in the film business. The show’s first season, set in the 1960s, will consist of six episodes.

When Crisis was first revealed in January 2015, details were sparse, and there haven’t been too many updates about it since. The most significant story related to the series came in May 2015, when Allen expressed his deep regret about agreeing to do a TV show at all. “It’s amazing how you can regret,” the filmmaker said at the time.

With Crisis’ arrival date now set, much focus has shifted to Amazon’s relationship with Allen, who is a controversial figure due to his complicated family life. When asked about his company’s dealings with the director, Amazon Studios head Roy Price responded coyly. “I look forward to your reaction,” he said. “See it in the fall.”

Beyond Crisis, Amazon also shared trailers for three new series — One Mississippi, Fleabag, and Goliath — as well as the third season of returning hit Transparent. The previews for those shows are available through the Amazon Video YouTube channel, and their release dates can be found over at ComingSoon.net.
