Series Adaptation Of James Corden’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Coming To Apple Music

Apple has landed its first big coup in the original programming department. The tech company’s Apple Music service will be the first-run home for the series adaptation of Carpool Karaoke, which is best known as a segment on CBSThe Late Late Show With James Corden.

In each Carpool Karaoke installment, Corden meets a celebrity in his car and joins them in some enthusiastic singalongs. The segment has proven to be the most memorable offering of Corden’s Late Late Show regime, with celebrities ranging from Michelle Obama to Lin-Manuel Miranda joining the fun (and rolling up tens of millions of views along the way).

As we learned back when the standalone version of Carpool Karaoke was first announced, Corden will not be the upcoming program’s host. Instead, he will be its executive producer and will appear on it occasionally. The person who will host in his stead has yet to be announced.

Given the popularity of Carpool Karaoke, the show is a huge get for Apple, which is trying to establish itself as a major player in the original programming world. The Cupertino-based tech company, which first revealed its content plans last year, is also working on Planet of the Apps, an unscripted series about mobile development.

Carpool Karaoke will launch on Apple Music, which costs $9.99 per month. The release date for the upcoming series has not yet been announced, but its first season is expected to consist of 16 episodes.
