Vimeo’s Podcast Spotlights Its Most Talented Creators

Vimeo is the platform of choice for independent creators, who have for more than a decade used the video site to distribute work that ranges from colorful to dark to funny to just plain odd. The best of these videos end up as Vimeo Staff Picks, and now, with a new audio offering, the site’s handpicked selections are receiving further time in the spotlight. Vimeo has launched a podcast on which two of its employees talk to creators whose work has previously been “Staff Picked.”

The hosts of The Vimeo Podcast are Andrea Allen, who serves as the video site’s director of production and community, and Doug Klinger, who helps select Staff Picks as one of the site’s curators. In each episode, Allen and Klinger sit down with a new featured creator, who gets an hour to discuss his or her creative process and share the best stories he or she has picked up along the way.

The Vimeo Podcast

launched quietly in February, and nine episodes have already been released; however, it is only now getting an official launch. The program’s unveiling is tied to its latest episode, which features Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, known collectively as DANIELS. After releasing multiple Staff Picked videos on Vimeo, DANIELS have now released their first feature film, Swiss Army Man, which drew attention as one of the strangest, most interesting, and most controversial films at Sundance.

By sharing stories from inspired talents, The Vimeo Podcast serves as helpful listening for aspiring filmmakers. At the same time, it’s great marketing for Vimeo. Use our platform, the podcast seems to say, and maybe one day you too can make a movie in which Paul Dano rides Daniel Radcliffe’s farting corpse across the ocean. Or something like that.
