Disney Debuts ‘The Star Wars Show’, A Weekly Web Series Celebrating The Franchise’s Fans

Disney has just gone live with the premiere of a weekly digital variety series titled The Star Wars Show that aims to celebrate the franchise’s fervent fans. Beginning today, seven-minute episodes will debut every Wednesday on the Star Wars YouTube channel — and its Facebook and Twitter pages — as well as on the franchise’s website and the official Star Wars app.

Hosted by StarWars.com’s digital communications manager Andi Gutierrez and the actor Peter Townley, each episode will recap goings-on within the fan community. The show will also cover news about the Star Wars films, television shows, books, comics, video games, merchandise, and more.

“There’s an abundance of Star Wars news and information right now and for the foreseeable future,” said Lucasfilm’s senior director of content and programming, Mickey Capoferri

, in a statement. “The Star Wars Show will be the place for new and old fans to engage with every aspect of the franchise in fun and authentic ways.”

The series is being produced by Star Wars creator George Lucas’ Lucasfilm production company — which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2012 — as well as Disney’s Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) division. “It’s a show for fans, by fans, made in the same building as Star Wars,” according to press release.
