Veteran digital media executive Sam Wick, who formerly served as the EVP and GM of enterprise at Maker Studios, has joined global talent and literary agency UTA in its digital media department.
At UTA, Wick will be charged with building new business opportunities for the agency’s diverse client roster, which includes bold-faced digital influencers like iJustine, Shane Dawson, Joey Graceffa, Flula Borg, Eleventhgorgeous, Toby Turner, and more.
“When I met Sam, I was immediately struck by his entrepreneurial spirit and background,” said UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer in a statement. “Today, our clients are looking for entrepreneurial representation, and Sam will add greatly to our capabilities.”
“Sam is an experienced and respected executive who will be an incredible resource for the agency and its clients as we continue to build new businesses and partnerships around globally-recognized brands,” added UTA partner and its head of digital media, Brent Weinstein.
In his former position at Maker, Wick headed up corporate and business development as well as strategic partnerships. Prior to that, he served as the SVP of marketing and programming at Myspace. Wick has also held positions at AOL, mp3.com, and Sony.
UTA has helped launch a handful of hugely successful ventures within the digital space, including AwesomenessTV with client Brian Robbins; the digital media-leaning publishing imprint Keywords Press alongside Simon & Schuster’s Atria publishing group; and PreAct, a social media-based movie tracker with comScore.
