Netflix To Bring Back ‘Fuller House’ For A Second Season

TV’s Tanner family will stick around at least a little longer. Netflix has announced that Fuller House, its reboot of the late 80s/early 90s sitcom Full House, has been renewed for a second season.

Netflix shared news of the renewal through the official Fuller House Twitter account. The announcement was accompanied by a short video, in which the Tanners get together for a family photo.

Given the pre-release hype that surrounded Fuller House, the program’s renewal comes as no surprise, even though it was received tepidly. As I noted when the series first premiered, it was never meant to be a critical darling; rather, the nostalgic feelings it drums are enough to draw a robust audience of middle-aged viewers.

With Fuller House’s second season secured, the Internet has already begun to wonder whether Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

, who played Michelle Tanner on Full House, will rejoin the cast in any capacity. The Olsen twins were the only members of Full House’s principal cast who did not return for the Netflix reboot, but there’s still a chance they could show up in the future. “I am still hopeful that Mary-Kate or Ashley or both of them will come back and be a part of it, even if it’s just for an hour,” said series creator Jeff Franklin this past January. “We miss that. Everybody does feel that hole in the family. But it’s like, all family reunions, there’s always somebody that doesn’t show up. But hopefully next time around, we’ll have them back.”

Netflix did not specify a release date for Fuller House’s second season.
