Description: A web series that breathes new life into J.M. Barrie’s most famous work is looking to pick up a third season. The New Adventures of Peter + Wendy, which applies a digital twist to the world of Peter Pan, has returned to Indiegogo in order to fund a new batch of episodes.

In Peter + WendyKyle Walters portrays Peter, an exuberant young man who never wants to leave his hometown of Neverland, Ohio. His friend Wendy, played by Paula Rhodes, has other ideas, and the romantic tension between them has driven Peter + Wendy through a pair of charming seasons.

With its literary setup and its use of transmedia tie-ins, Peter + Wendy fits squarely within YouTube’s “vlog adaptations of classic novels” category, which was first sparked by the hit web series The Lizzie Bennet DiariesPeter + Wendy isn’t just connected to Lizzie Bennet by its genre; one of its producers, Jenni Powell, also produced Lizzie Bennet and several of Pemberley Digital‘s other literature adaptations. (Full disclosure: She’s also an occasional Tubefilter writer.)

The new crowdfunding campaign is Peter + Wendy‘s third; it launched its first season after picking up support on Kickstarter, and summarily picked up a second go-around thanks to a successful push on Indiegogo. This campaign will likely be the series’ last; Peter + Wendy‘s creative team is

planning season three as a grand finale. “We’re so looking forward to heading back to Neverland, we NEED to complete the tale,” Rhodes told Tubefilter. “These characters live in so many hearts, but we have grown particularly attached to them. Some of the stuff we have planned for season 3 is so perfect, from transmedia to a new character intro, to where our story lands, I can’t WAIT to share it with fans!”

Creator Bio: In addition to starring the series, Rhodes and Walters also serve as two of its producers. Both of them have plenty of digital credits to their respective names; Rhodes previous work includes a role in the web series Hollywood Wasteland, while Walters appeared in Welcome to Sanditon, Pemberley Digital’s sprawling adaptation of an unfinished Jane Austen novel.

Peter + Wendy‘s writer, Shawn DeLoache, is also one of its co-creators. He is working with innovative filmmaker Adi Shankar on his upcoming film Gods and Secrets.

Best Perk: The $30 perk, which provides early access to all season three episodes, is titled the “Under 300 Club,” a riff on YouTube’s former policy of pausing view counts at 301.

Why You Should Fund It: Among the plethora of vlog adaptations of classic novels, Peter + Wendy is one of the best. Its first two seasons were fueled by the genuine and believable chemistry of its leads and its strong production values; as a result, it scored a nomination at the most recent Streamy Awards.

Along the way, it has also picked up its own dedicated fanbase, who will be eager to see how the series concludes. Their excitement, however, should not be exclusive. Peter + Wendy is a well-made series with a ton of heart and its a story that deserves to be told to completion. If you’d like to support its final 12 episodes, you know what to do.
