Amazon’s latest original series is a dark dramedy. The website’s Prime subscribers can now access the first season of Mad Dogs, which focuses on five middle-aged friends they spill their respective secrets during a reunion trip.
The central characters in Mad Dogs are a quintet of buddies who are all portrayed by familiar Hollywood faces. Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club), Billy Zane (Twin Peaks), Romany Malco (Weeds), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), and Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line) lead Amazon’s new series, with other TV vets like Allison Tolman showing up in support. All five of the principal actors appear in a trailer for the series, which arrived online last February.
Mad Dogs, based off a British series of the same name, first arrived on Amazon Instant Video in January 2015, when its first episode was released during one of the streaming platform’s pilot presentations. Several other projects from that pilot season, including The Man in the High Castle, have already premiered their first seasons for Amazon Prime subscribers. Others, like The New Yorker Presents, will arrive soon.
The first season of Mad Dogs includes ten episodes.
