BuzzFeed Asks Dan Rather To Define “On Fleek,” “Dadbod,” And “Bae”

There is a time-honored tradition of YouTube videos that feature dramatic-sounding men speaking in young tongues. Christopher Walken, Michael Shannon, and these two chaps have all added their own contributions to this delightful genre, and Dan Rather has now joined that club as well. The former NBC anchor teamed up with BuzzFeed Yellow for a video in which he must define Internet slang terms.

Rather’s definitions don’t quite match up with those of the BuzzFeed audience, which is part of the fun. The rest of the appeal concerns Rather’s stereotypical anchorman voice, which sounds so nice it can ever make conversations about the dadbod

seem smart.

It’s the perfect video to put a smile on your face at the end of a long week. It’s so charming, I’ll even excuse the fact that a comment reading “I don’t know who this guy is but he’s fun to listen to” has 146 likes. Now I feel old.
