Through Its Newest Hire, Refinery29 Doubles Down On Video

Refinery29 has made a move that will bolster its digital video efforts. According to Variety, the female-focused media company has hired former Vice Media exec Amy Emmerich as its new head of video.

Emmerich most recently served as VP of Programming for Scrippsulive.com. Before that, she was VP of production and development at Vice Media. In her new role, she will lead the Refinery29 video team as it creates new original series and expands its programming slate.

“We are committed to expanding the platform in big ways this year under Amy’s leadership,” said Philippe von Borries, co-founder and co-CEO of Refinery29. “Her diverse experience developing award-winning storytelling for TV and digital as well as her ability to scale production and development teams, matched with her connections and expertise in working with top talent agents and distribution partners is core to achieving that mission.”

Refinery29 is best known for its editorial content, but it also offers style, fashion, and beauty videos on its YouTube channel. Current series include “Style Out There,” which spotlights fashion trends around the world, and “Daycation with Evelina,” in which host Evelina Barry explores trendy neighborhoods.

We’ll keep an eye on Emmerich as she begins her new role, and we expect to hear from her soon. Refinery29 is one of the companies slated to present this April during the 2015 edition of the Digital Content Newfronts.
