Nerdist Debuts ‘Real Housewives Of Horror’, Chris Hardwick Guest Stars

Nerdist Industries has debuted a fall show perfect for this Halloween season. The company acquired by Legendary Entertainment back in 2012 premiered a new episode of The Real Housewives of Horror on October 30, 2014, with special guest star Chris Hardwick.

Created by Kevin Pereira (from G4’s Attack of the Show) and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter), The Real Housewives of Horror parodies all those reality TV shows about the daily lives and “struggles” of those Bravolebrities and well-to-do ladies who may or may not actually stay at home. However, the web series takes on a decidedly darker yet more comedic angle as the women in Nerdist’s version are all married to, or interested in, monsters, killers, or demonic spirits. So, it’s more or less like if Wes Craven conceived of and directed Hulu’s Hotwives of Orlando.

In the newest episode titled “Dawn of the Dawn: The Dawnening,” Grant’s character Heather

decides to host a speed-dating night for her friend Barbara Dawn (Brooke Seguin), who’s just getting over the death of her late, hatchet-wielding husband Cage Trollman. Barbara meets several eligible men, including Chris Hardwick as himself and the character Leo Jordan played by Isaiah Mustafa (of Horrible Bosses and all those amazing Old Spice commercials). However, Barbara passes on all of the bachelors for a man she thinks is Satan, who’s really just the Devil’s intern Fester (played by Nicholas Brendon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame).

Nerdist took The Real Housewives of Horror, which was originally a one-off short from 2013, and turned it into a full series for its fall lineup of shows. The company released a re-cut version of the original one-off on October 23, 2014, in anticipation of the brand-new episode released today. Now, a new episode of The Real Housewives of Horror will be released every Thursday on Nerdist for the next several weeks.
