CC Studios Debuts Web Series Starring “New Timers” Of The Apocalypse

One week after it launched a web series based around the six members of Dormtainment, Comedy Central‘s digital wing has launched another effort based around an online sketch channel. Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin of Good Cop Great Cop are the stars of New Timers, a CC:Studios web series about two guys living in a post-apocalyptic society.

As the first episode of New Timers begins, we learn it has been since 281 days since “The Event,” an apocalyptic calamity that caused society to break down. Among the chaos, Porter and Hankin (playing fictionalized versions of themselves) deal with missing Monopoly pieces, a dwindling spice rack, and other minor annoyances.

Porter and Hankin previously caught our attention

thanks to Good Cop Great Cop, a three-year-old channel filled with short, offbeat sketches. In New Timers, Porter and Hankin are basically playing the same characters they play on their channel; the curly-haired Porter serves as a foil to Hankin’s mustachioed neurotic. As you might expect, this causes New Timers to feel like a serial version of Good Cop Great Cop, with only its end-of-days setting and higher production values (thanks to CC:Studios) setting it apart. If you enjoyed Porter and Hankin’s previous work, you’ll enjoy this, too.

Three episodes of the series are now available. Check them out at the CC:Studios website or on Comedy Central’s YouTube channel.
