Kingsley Gossips With Guests In New Defy Media Series “Drama King”

With nearly three million subscribers and more than 318 million views on his personal channel, Kingsley is one of YouTube’s premier gossipers. For his latest act, he has left his main channel to host Drama King, a new web series produced by Defy Media, distributed on the ClevverTV channel, and starring plenty of guests from the YouTube community.

Drama King, as its title suggests, features candid discussions about celebrities who cause lots of tabloid-friendly drama. The subject of the first episode is pop star Ariana Grande. “Is Ariana Grande a diva?” asks Kingsley at the start of the video, “Or is everyone else just a crybaby?” He then proceeds to answer this question alongside his two guests, Grace Helbig and Quinta B. A comfortable-looking set and some mimosas give the program a lazy Sunday feel.

The informal, chatty feel of Drama King

resembles the tone of the podcasts launched by YouTubers like Helbig and Tyler Oakley. Kingsley has his own podcast called Overexposed, and in general, the talk show format is a good fit for the personality he has established on YouTube. Drama King also lends itself to guest appearances, and there will be plenty of those: Future episodes will feature everyone from Lilly “Superwoman” Singh to Shane Dawson to Flula Borg.

Drama King was launched as part of DEFY Media’s Creators Program, which gives the network’s partners (such as Kingsley) the chance to launch content across popular channels of than their own. Given the gossipy nature of Kingsley’s videos, Drama King is a natural extension of his online influence, and even though it is hosted on ClevverTV, Kinglsey seems to be right at home.
