Season Two Of Amazon’s ‘Alpha House’ Gets October 24th Release Date

Amazon Instant Video‘s new series are currently the talk of the town, but as Transparent and its ilk look to launch Amazon up to Netflix’s level, the site’s first original program is set to return. Alpha House, which stars John Goodman as one of four Republican Senators who live together, will begin its second season on October 24th.

Alpha House, which was first announced late in 2012, was one of the comedies included in Amazon’s first round of competing pilots. Of those programs, only Alpha House and Betas received full series orders, and the latter series was ultimately dropped after a single season. Though Alpha House itself received only lukewarm reviews, Amazon decided to pick it up for one more year, banking on the star power of Goodman and series creator Garry Trudeau.

This time around, a number of other familiar faces will join the fun. Bill Murray is set to guest star, as are Senators John McCain

and Elizabeth Warren. A number of well-known political journalists, including Wolf Blitzer, Rachel Maddow, and George Stephanopolous, will also appear.

“Our cast members hit their stride in season two,” said Trudeau in a statement. “Alpha House is blessed with actors who can find three laughs for every one on the page, and a crew that rivals any in episodic television. It’s been a privilege to come to work.”

Alpha House may ultimately go the way of Netflix’s Lilyhammer, which is best known for being Netflix’s first original program and is generally overshadowed by more popular series like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Even so, Alpha House has plenty of talent among its cast and crew, and its second season likely has plenty of laughs in store.
