CollegeHumor Claims Its New Channel Is Weirder Than Its Predecessor

Is it even possible to get crazier than CollegeHumor’s YouTube channel? The comedy website thinks so, as it just announced the launch of its weirder new channel, CH2.

Aimed at creating experimental sketches, CH2 will do everything CollegeHumor’s main channel does, but with a more alternative flair. According to a release, part of CollegeHumor’s reason for launching CH2 is to encourage the development of and give a home to “quirky passion projects” from both familiar and new names in comedy. This angle is already reflected in some of the first videos to be uploaded. Elaine Carroll’s “Big Boned Cheerleaders” depicts the intimate connection between those sturdier cheerleaders who always end up as the base of the pyramid formations.

“Some of

the most popular series and characters throughout CollegeHumor’s history have originated from taking risks and trying new things,” says Sam Reich, founder of CollegeHumor and President of Big Breakfast, in the release. “We hope CH2 will be a place for alternative content, community building and working with diverse or up-and-coming talent. The CollegeHumor Originals team and I are very excited to have this sandbox to play in and, based on the initial response from the comedy community, they are too.”

Additionally, CH2 will be the destination for videos from the CollegeHumor Grants Program, a new setup that provides financial assistance to comedy sketch creators who want to get their ideas off the ground. The Grants Program is currently invite-only, but it should be a win-win for both the creators who are generating unique, offbeat work and CH2.

Check out the trailer for CH2 below, and visit the now-live channel to see sketches involving familiar faces like Will Forte and George Basil. And if you’re into the weirder things in life, subscribing to this channel may be in your best interest.
