Fine Bros, Grace Helbig Among This Year’s Social 25 Honorees At SMWLA

Each year, Social Media Week Los Angeles (SMWLA) and What’s Trending team up for the Social 25, a list of ” this year’s top 25 most outstanding individuals, companies, and brands influencing the future of social media.” The 2014 honorees have been announced, and as it previous years, the list spans a diverse cross-section of the online media industry.

Last year’s honorees included online video personalities like Toby Turner and Hannah Hart. A few top YouTubers made it onto the 2014 list as well, with Grace Helbig and The Fine Bros among the honorees. Several online video executives–including Beatriz Acevedo of MiTu, Will Keenan of Endemol Beyond USA, and Jon Skogmo of Jukin Media–will also be honored.

Many of the other honorees are established media personalities who have used the Internet to bolster their legacies. In the past year, Marlon Wayans launched his own comedy destination, Russell Simmons brought his business acumen to a YouTube network, Tony Horton

expanded his fitness empire online, and “Weird Al” Yankovic owned the Internet with a string of music videos. All four of those men are included in the Social 25 list.

“It is an incredibly exciting time to be part of the LA startup and creative community,” said Shira Lazar, co-founder of What’s Trending. “Each year it is getting more and more difficult to choose only 25 due to the city’s growth in tremendous contributions to the world’s tech and social media. We are thrilled to be able to honor this year’s list of true pioneers.”

A full list of the Social 25 honorees can be found on the SMWLA website. Tickets for the official Social 25 party and all other SMWLA events can be purchased here. Use the code TF20 for 20% off. You can also check out the full schedule of SMWLA events here.
