Loot Crate Adds ‘Firefly’ Fan Film To Its Latest Gift Box

Since its launch, Loot Crate has nerds of the world provided monthly gift boxes related to specific franchises. The company’s latest box has a galactic theme, and it is accompanied by a Firefly fan film produced by the Loot Crate team.

The film is called “The Verse“, and as with the show it is based off, it takes place aboard a transport spaceship inhabited by a ragtag collection of crew members and passengers. The characters are not the same as the ones from Joss Whedon’s cult classic, but there are very clear analogues between the original show and the fan film. Included in the cast are a captain with a military history, a genius ship mechanic, and a powerful stowaway with far-reaching connections. Sound familiar?

“The Verse” is available for free on Loot Crate’s YouTube channel, which also offers unboxing videos

of the company’s monthly offers.

“The Verse” essentially serves as an advertisement for Loot Crate’s latest offering, which includes a number of Firefly-related goodies. For a $13.37 monthly fee, subscribers receive a themed box filled with all sorts of curios and collector’s items. Past boxes have centered on nerdy pop culture franchises like Game of Thrones, Transformers, and Attack on Titan.

If you’re interested in the Galactic package, you can subscribe to Loot Crate on the company’s website. Even for those with no interest in monthly deliveries, “The Verse” satisfies a thirst for new stories from within the Firefly world. It’s a well-made fan film that will leave “Browncoats” happy.
