Grace Helbig’s Audio-Video Podcast ‘Not Too Deep’ Debuts At #1 On iTunes

Grace Helbig may be releasing a book in October, but apparently she couldn’t wait that long to let loose another one of her many initiatives. On Monday, September 1, Helbig launched the first episode of her new audio-visual podcast dubbed Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig.

“This podcast is very exciting, highly interactive, and overwhelmingly dumb,” said Helbig in an email to Tubefilter. “I couldn’t be more proud.”

In each episode, Helbig interviews one of her many YouTube friends (all of whom have highly recognizable names and faces) before forcing them to participate in a challenge inspired by the internet, but made more “stupid.” Only snippets of the interviews are filmed, so fans will have to visit iTunes or SoundCloud to download the full-length audio version of each installment.

“Our show is a little unique in that we designed it with exclusive video and audio content,” explained Jack Ferry, Helbig’s producing partner and podcast director, over email. “Each video previews a few minutes of the interview, followed by a ridiculous YouTube challenge (with a twist). If you want to hear the complete interview, you need to check out the audio podcast. If you want to check out the challenge, you need to watch the video.”

Tyler Oakley is featured in the first episode, where he plays “The Edward Sporty-Hands Challenge,” Helbig’s twist on the “Edward Fortyhands Challenge.” New episodes will be released every Monday on Helbig’s YouTube channel

(which currently boasts more than 1.8 million subscribers) and on the Not Too Deep’s pages on iTunes and SoundCloud. Future guests include Rhett & Link, Mamrie Hart, Jack & Dean, and more individuals who are sure to entertain and delight online video and audio audiences.

The launch of the podcast should come as no surprise to ardent fans of Helbig. The YouTube personality (with an E! TV pilot in the works) announced the program in a video on August 18. She also noted in the video the title of the show came from the fact she “doesn’t like emotions.” Sorry, Helbig, but your nomenclature is just a little off. Audiences of Not Too Deep are surely going to experience a lot of emotions, just the happy, laugh-filled, and pleasant kind.

And judging by the iTunes charts, Helbig, Ferry, and company should experience some happy, laugh-filled, and pleasant emotions, too. Not Too Deep currently holds the #1 spot on iTune’s Top Podcasts chart, beating out familiar podcast staples like This American Life, The Moth, and Radiolab.

Help the show maintain its top spot and give it a look and listen for yourself on iTunes, SoundCloud, and Helbig’s YouTube channel.
