Google Wows Viewers With Its Project Wing Demo

Every once in a while, Google shares a new project from its Google X division, where sleek advancements like Google Glass are born. The latest video out of Google X shows off Project Wing, a project that will use drones to quickly deliver supplies.

According to an article in The Atlantic, Google X has been secretly working on Project Wing for two years. The project’s intro video takes us to Australia, where we see one of Google’s drones flying along a predetermined route while “Spirit In The Sky” plays in the background.

The video has been a hit with viewers, drawing 176,000 of them in less than a day. This is not surprising, given the YouTube success of Amazon’s similar Air Prime service. The introductory video for that drone-based delivery system has drawn more than 14 million views and inspired a parody from Netflix.

Project Wing is very cool, so let’s hope it doesn’t take another two years to get more details. Whenever those details do arrive, they will probably bring more cool, sharable YouTube videos along for the ride.
