Here Are Some Highlights From The 2014 Webby Awards Ceremony

The winners of the 2014 Webby Awards were announced last month, but the actual Webby ceremony didn’t take place until May 19th. The day after the event, the Webby Awards’ official YouTube channel is home to a number of highlights, acceptance speeches, and red carpet interviews.

The first video worth watching on the Webby channel is the animated opening to the show, which references top Internet trends of the past year. Adam finds Eve on Tinder, Ylvis flies through the sky, Zach Galifianakis shares a snack with the President, and, for some reason, the Star Wars Kid shows up.

Patton Oswalt, who emceed the event, appeared in a video of his own, which was released through Funny Or Die. The actor and event hyped up his hosting gig by meeting some of his haters face to face.

The Webby Awards are also known for their five-word acceptance speeches, and while Jimmy Fallon’s speech from five years ago remains the crème de la crème, a few of 2014’s honorees cracked jokes of their own. Freddie Wong, who took home a Special Achievement Award, found himself at a loss for words; Grace Helbig, after accepting an award presented by Pete Holmes, left the audience with a cliffhanger.

The Webby Awards channel has also updated a number of pre-show interviews, including one with the Shiba Inu dog that appears in the doge image macro. Wow. Such inteview.
