Consciously or not, online video viewers took in a lot of branded content in 2013. According to a study from Visible Measures, branded videos scored 8.3 billion views in 2013, an increase of 44% over 2012.
The study reveals that 6.5 billion branded views came from campaigns launched in 2013, with a pair of nine-digit videos–Samsung’s ‘The Big Game’ and Turkish Airlines’ ‘The Selfie Shootout’–leading the way. In total, there were 12 branded videos to reach 100 million views, and more than one thousand branded videos were able to crack seven digits.
In total, branded web videos have scored more than 19 billion views. A graph shared by VideoNuze charts these views by year:
“In 2013, it became more apparent than ever that all consumers really want is a compelling and authentic story,” explains the abstract to Visible Measures’ study. The huge volume of branded views backs this assertion up, showing that viewers aren’t afraid to watch sponsored content if it features the quality they desire.
