Grandson Explaining Molly, Sexting, More To His Grandfather Is Great

Cats. Kids. Geriatrics. These three entities are now internet staples and when used in ways inappropriate, cute, and/or anomalous can lead to popular online video ephemera and sometimes even fortune.

The latest exceptional addition to one of these categories comes from Josh Shultz, Ethan Cole, and Cole’s grandparents, who so far have a handful of videos within their Explaining Things To My Grandfather series under the banner of Schultz and Cole’s Young Old YouTube channel.

The program positions Cole on a comfortable couch alongside Joe (his grandfather), to whom he explains modern day slang. Each episode tackles new terminology (Molly, Sexting, Wingmanning, Cockblocking, and Getting Back Ethan’s Ex, which isn’t technically terminology

the kids use the days) with equal parts information, mild fascination, practical use, slight Canadian accents, and ostensibly gregarious and charming senior citizens who are having a time. Or, to use previous online video examples, it’s the charisma of Old Jews Telling Jokes meets the premise of Elders React.

Here’s the best one so far, in which Cole’s grandmother joins in with Joe to chastise their grandson’s so-called friends about the ways in which they prevent him from picking up women:

Explaining Things To My Grandfather is a new twist on an old internet trope that’s far from tired. This is definitely one to watch.
