Vice Organizes Its Cutting-Edge News Videos On A New Vertical

Recently, Vice has begun reorganizing its content across a series of verticals. Two weeks ago, it announced a new food channel aimed at Millennials, and its latest hub collects the publication’s news coverage in a single location.

The new Vice News vertical will contain edgy human interest videos that relate to breaking news stories. The channel will feature long and short form documentaries as well as live streams, Vines, and Instagrams. “We won’t immediately have the depth of content that you will see when we’re out of Beta, but we will be adding more every day,” says a blog post on the new Vice News website. “Soon, there will be enough in there to get lost in, bathe in, and fall down 100 different newsy rabbit holes.”

Vice News is also available on YouTube, where 30 new videos have been added in the past week alone.

The Vice News website extends a brand already well-known for its news coverage. The Streamy-nominated publication has previously provided updates from the front lines of Syria, and the launch content on the new website takes viewers to tumultuous regions like Caracas and Crimea.

Most of Vice’s content already fit under the news banner, but it was still a wise decision to organize newsy stories under their own banner, in order to separate those videos from the offbeat documentaries and food pilgrimages. Vice viewers can now access a location completely dedicated to Important, Serious Journalism, and once they have exhausted all the breaking news, they can go back to the other stuff.
