Marlon Wayans Officially Launches Online Video Platform WhatTheFunny

Marlon Wayans isn’t just in movies anymore. The comedian best known as a member of the famous Wayans family has officially launched WhatTheFunny.com, an online video platform focused on comedy.

WhatTheFunny is co-founded by Randy Adams, who previously helped found Funny Or Die. Will Ferrell’s popular comedy platform seems to serve as at least a partial inspiration for WhatTheFunny, which also features its own in-house video player, a focus on sketch comedy, and well-known talent (such as Omar Epps).

Wayans has also made it a point to bring the YouTube community on board. “YouTube is a great way for emerging artists to garner an audience, but a very difficult place to build a sustainable business”, said Adams. “We are helping YouTube artists actually make money by sharing higher advertising revenue with them and giving them an off-YouTube destination for

their content. We have reached out to the best of the best on YouTube and have build them a channel on our site, and our current additions include Todrick Hall, well-known hip hop artist Trae Tha Truth, and YouTube luminaries J. Snow and Top Rope Zeus.”

Hall’s presence includes an entire vertical, titled Todrick Hall Presents. For one video, Hall redid ‘All That Jazz’ from Chicago by removing the J. You can probably figure out where things go from there.

WhatTheFunny has its hands in a lot of cookie jars, and this ambition has already allowed it to score a decent viewership. The platform is also available on smart TVs, because the only way to watch ‘Twerkin’ In The Rain‘ is on the big screen.
