CollegeHumor And Electus Merge To Form New Digital Studio

InterActiveCorp (IAC) claims some of online video’s strongest platforms among its properties, and its latest move will bring two of those properties together. IAC has announced the launch of Electus Digital, a new studio that combines top comedy hub CollegeHumor with digital production company Electus.

Electus Digital will be composed of eight different properties: Three websites, three YouTube channels, and two production companies. Included in that group are Loud and Hungry, the channels that have provided us with engaging web series such as Eminem’s Detroit Rubber. CollegeHumor’s presence will include the main site as well as Big Breakfast, a new production company composed of CollegeHumor’s originals team that will create content across all of the Electus Digital destinations.

All eight will aim to target the coveted 18-34 audience. “This configuration represents a combination

of the best of creative execution and distribution on the digital landscape,” said Electus COO Drew Buckley. “As one team, we are now able to deliver even more inventive, high-quality programming to more fans across all platforms.”

Electus has its roots in television, as it was founded by veteran TV exec Ben Silverman. The new merger will better equip Big Breakfast for TV projects, which will include the planned TBS version of the Jake and Amir web series.

Electus and CollegeHumor have worked together since the former company’s inception in 2009. The new Electus Digital umbrella simplifies matters and ensures that CollegeHumor content, which already reaches one of the largest subscriber bases on YouTube, can more easily expand to new platforms.
