Geek & Sundry Sets April 5 As 2nd Annual International TableTop Day

Just like vinyl records are making quite the comeback, analog board games are in the midst of a renaissance in an age where digital (and often times isolating) technologies (and styles of games) are becoming increasingly prevalent, powerful, and popular. Leading the charge is Wil Wheaton.

The on-screen son of Beverly Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation and current host of Geek & Sundry’s weekly TableTop series – in which Wheaton introduces a board game and proceeds to play said board game with a handful of web and/or television personalities – just announced International TableTop Day is set to become a yearly event. April 5, 2014 will be the date of the day’s second annual iteration and is set to boast a massive gathering in LA with festivities emceed by Wheaton and Geek & Sundry founder Felicia Day. In addition to big board game gala in LA, more than 6,000 local meetups and events across the globe are expected to a part of this year’s ITTD, too.

Gamers and interested parties can find local events (and register their own) at TableTopDay.com, the official destination for news and information about International TableTop Day. And for those unfamiliar with the event, here’s a brief primer:
