Hank Azaria Explores ‘Fatherhood’ In New AOL Web Series

Actor Hank Azaria is best known for providing dozens upon dozens of voices for The Simpsons, but in his new web series, Azaria discusses the one voice most important to him–his son’s. Azaria stars in Fatherhood, a documentary series produced by BermanBraun, released via AOL, and centered on his relationship with his now four-year old son, Hal.

Fatherhood begins with Hal’s ten-weeks premature birth, after which he weighed less than three pounds. To help ease himself into fatherhood, Azaria consulted some of his celebrity friends, including Bryan Cranston, Kevin Bacon, Mike Myers, and many others. Bacon in particular gives some sound advice for expectant fathers: “The phases will drive you up a wall,” he says. “You’ll be like, ‘I cannot take the colicky phase, the diaper phase…’ And they keep going, they pass, no one ever tells you that in the books. This too shall pass

The second episode travels forward to last year (when the series was filmed) and details Azaria’s relationship with his son as a three-year old. At that rate, Hal will be fully grown by the time the series is over.

Fatherhood’s plentiful celebrity cameos provide some appeal for the general public, but don’t be fooled; the series has a clear target audience in mind. It lives on mom.me, a parenting vertical for new mothers, and that demographic should find Fatherhood to be very salient. New episodes will arrive weekly through March, and new parents are welcome to use Azaria’s experience as a guide for their own.
