Here’s The Live Stream For Obamacare Featuring Online Video Stars

A month ago, we discussed a planned YouTube live stream aimed at supporting Obamacare and encouraging young people to sign up for health insurance. The live stream has now been posted, and it goes live January 16th at 3 PM EST on the YouTube channel of insurance marketplace Covered California.

The live stream will be a packed one, as all manner of online video creators have pledged their support for their support for Obamacare. Hannah Hart will serve as one of the hosts, and her pal Grace Helbig will appear alongside her. Alphacat will do a live performance of what we can only assume will be his ACA-themed parody of ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot‘. Nathan Barnatt will have a bit with Richard Simmons, Taryn Southern will host a “Social Update desk”, and Maker Studios

will provide some additional talent. More content during stream comes from the likes of Funny or Die, and YouTube is providing its creator space to host the stream.

Basically, the online video community has made it clear where it stands on the Affordable Care Act. The stream, however, isn’t about YouTube stars patting themselves on the back. Rather, it is aimed at the fans of these YouTube stars, many of whom fall into the 18-34 demographic that companies like Covered California are targeting. In aiming for those young Americans, the Get Covered live stream has chosen as good a platform as it will ever find–but it remains to be seen if the call to action will be effective.
