Every year since 2009, Destorm has summarized the events of the past 12 months through a YouTube ‘Rap Up‘. Despite his increased preference toward Vine, Destorm recently returned to YouTube to continue this yearly tradition, and the 2013 ‘Rap Up’ (featuring guest star Liane V) may be his biggest, boldest year-in-review verse yet.
The 2013 Rap Up may not be as succinct as Google’s Zeitgeist video or as online video-centric as YouTube’s yearly Rewind, but it definitely flows better than either of those efforts. As with Dan Bull’s ContentID rap, the Rap Up is an indicator that any summary of events is better when delivered via rhyme.
Destorm has scored millions of views for his other Rap Ups, and this year’s installment seems destined for similar heights. It has received over 532,000 views in the three days since its release, and while the time for 2013 year-end videos is just about over, expect a few hundred thousand more stragglers to check out Destorm’s take on the news items, deaths, and sports happenings of the year before everything is said and done. Not bad for a guy who spends most of his time making six second videos with Eric Dunn.
