VEVO, Revision3 Now Streaming On Google’s Chromecast

Google’s Chromecast continues to add new apps as it quickly cements its place as the must-have web-to-TV device of the year. A slew of recent partnerships have added at least eight new apps to Chromecast, including leading music network VEVO

.

The VEVO deal gives Chromecast users access to VEVO’s selection of music videos, which can be cast from either computers or mobile devices via the VEVO app. Many of these videos were also available through the Chromecast YouTube app, though a blog post from VEVO explains that users want easier access to their favorite music videos. “We’ve been working hard with Google over the past few months to bring you the best possible Chromecast music video experience,” says the post. “We’re especially proud to be among just a few of Google’s chosen partners, illustrating the huge demand for music videos on the big screen.”

VEVO isn’t the only new app on Chromecast. In addition, the device now supports several other new apps, including news videos from PostTV, East Asian offerings from Viki, extreme sports content from the brand geniuses over at Red Bull, and a wide variety of engaging non-fiction content from Revision3.

Chromecast now offers incredibly widespread access to the online media world. The new additions join staples like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, and Pandora. There are still a few holes in the device’s coverage (sports streaming apps like MLB.tv and NBA League Pass come to mind), but the app library has gotten a nice upgrade just in time for the holiday season.
